How to Generate Full Inventory Across Connections

R
Written by Richard Pasquin

Generate Full Inventory adds a company-wide inventory view to a calculation's Unrealized Gain/Loss tab.

View

Connections included

Report Scope Inventory

Connections included in the selected calculation.

Full Portfolio Inventory

All connections, including those outside that calculation.

For a connection outside the calculation, Full Inventory uses its last calculated cost basis. If it was never calculated, its cost basis cannot be relied on. Generating this report does not calculate every connection again.

Example: You calculate Wallet A only, then generate Full Inventory. Wallet B uses its earlier calculated cost basis. If Wallet B has never been calculated, calculate both wallets before relying on the company total.

1. Choose the calculation

Go to Subledger > Calculation and choose the completed run you need. Confirm its ID, method, and period.

Click the run details icon beside the selector to check Filters Applied.

Read the start date, end date, wallets, connections, and assets, then close the details. The example includes all connections.

2. Open Unrealized Gain/Loss

Click Unrealized Gain/Loss. Check Price as of, including its time. If you change it, click Refresh Prices before generating the inventory.

3. Generate Full Inventory

Click Generate Full Inventory and wait for FULL INVENTORY READY.

The button changes to Rebuild Full Inventory after generation. Check the ready status before using the report.

4. Review all connections

Choose Full Portfolio Inventory, then Connections. Confirm which wallets and exchanges appear.

Use Assets when you need quantities by asset. Check remaining quantity, cost basis, market value, and pricing status. Adding quantities of different assets does not give a useful holding total.

5. Compare with the calculation scope

Choose Report Scope Inventory to return to the selected calculation's connections. Use the same valuation date when comparing the two views.

6. Resolve unreliable values

Review MISSING PRICE, PARTIAL PRICES, and Negative balance alerts. A priced row can still have missing inventory. Open Checks to investigate the calculation.

If a connection was never calculated or its records changed, return to Transactions. Clear selections and filters that exclude required connections, then set the intended report period.

Run a calculation that includes all required connections. Leave Publish the Result unchecked while reviewing it, and normally leave Use only filtered transactions as inventory unchecked so earlier acquisitions remain available.

Review Checks in the new run, then generate Full Inventory from that run. See How to run a calculation for the full calculation procedure.

An earlier cost basis can remain valid when an excluded connection had no activity in the period and its earlier calculation is correct. In that case, Full Inventory can show the whole company without recalculating an unchanged connection.

Full Inventory does not replace missing source history, create a missing acquisition cost, or post journals.
