How to Run Global Internal Transfer Detection

Written by Richard Pasquin

Find transfers between your connected wallets and accounts before calculating cost basis.

Global internal transfer detection matches outgoing and incoming records across all connections in your entity. An entity is the company or set of books you are working in. Detection runs as one job before a cost basis calculation.

For example, you send 1 ETH from Wallet A to Wallet B. Cryptoworth needs the send from Wallet A and the receive in Wallet B to match the movement. Syncing every wallet first gives detection both sides of the transfer.

1. Sync all wallets and accounts

Open Subledger > Reconciliation > Data Sanity Check.

Click Sync & Reconcile to sync your connected wallets and accounts.

Wait for every sync and transaction import to finish. Check Sync Status for each connection and review the report date.

The example shows mixed connection states. Check that both sides of each transfer are in your transaction history. A balance total alone is not enough.

If a wallet or account is missing, connect it and import its transaction history first. A missing send or receive can prevent a match.

2. Run global detection once

In Subledger, open Transactions > Crypto Transactions.

Click Identify internal transfer. Wait for the detection job to finish.

You do not need to select a wallet. The job checks all connections together, so run it once after all wallets have finished syncing.

3. Review the marked transfers

Use the Internal Transfer filter to find records marked as internal transfers. This filter shows existing marks; it does not run detection.

In Transactions, click All Filters.

Click Select field, search for Internal transfer, then select Internal Transfer.

Leave the operator as Is. Open the value menu, select True, then click Apply inside that menu.

Click Apply in the main Filters window.

Review the filtered transactions. If the page says No transactions match your filters, no records match the current filter.

An empty list does not confirm that detection ran or that every transfer is correct. Check that all transaction history has synced and that detection has run since the latest sync.

For matching checks, manual mapping, and split transactions, see How to Find, Map, and Review Internal Crypto Transfers.

Once you have reviewed the matches and resolved any missing or incorrect records, continue with your cost basis calculation.

If a recent transfer is missing

The detection job may not have run since your last sync. Finish syncing all wallets, then click Identify internal transfer again.

If the transfer is still missing, follow the matching checks in How to Find, Map, and Review Internal Crypto Transfers.
